[IMGW]http://media.1up.com/media?id=3358089[/IMGW]Last time we checked in on Katamari Damacy creator Keita Takahashi, he was talking about ditching game development to go off and design http://news.bbc.co.uk/2/hi/technology/4392964.stm. Or something. So what the heck is this crazy thing over on http://www.famitsu.com/game/news/2007/07/17/103,1184678098,75350,0,0.html called Nobi Nobi Boy all about?
http://kotaku.com/gaming/soul-of-a-new-machine/katamari-creator-reveals-new-ps3-game-nobi-nobi-boy-279339.php that happy little spaghetti squiggle you see pictured could very well represent the first step in another Namco Bandai dynasty. Nobi Nobi Boy (in English: "Stretchy Stretchy Boy") is the latest game from the deep regions of Takahashi's crazy idea mill. So far, it's PS3-only.
Namco recently debuted the game at the PlayStation Premiere 2007 event, where onlookers got a chance to watch the titular character squirm around on the screen 'in a very realistic way' for about 30 seconds. Apparently Takahashi has been working on the idea for Nobi Nobi boy for the last 2 years, but (says http://www.gamespot.com/news/6175268.html) he has been unable to progress forward with his vision due to a lack of raw physics processing power in current-era hardware.
There's unquestionably more than just a little bit of the Prince in that happy spaghetti strand. No word on Nobi Nobi Boy's flamboyantly regal father figure... but perhaps at the Tokyo Game Show? Cross your fingers.
