How can I empty trash from root?

I tried dumping a disk logged in as a user. I got the "permission denied" error, so I typed su and the password. The disk then dumped fine. I copied it to my computer and tried deleting it from the PS3, which would not go. I logged in as root and deleted the file. I do not know where the trash is to empty and the file is still taking up space. When I don't log in as root, I see the trashbin on the desktop but it is empty. Any help would be great, thanks.

    Big Grin

If using YDL you can log on as root in a GNOME session, then you can empty trash. But I am sure there is a better way, but i don't know it.
