    thanks for that

according to my count, HD-DVD has a total of 137 companies backing them and Blu-Ray has 172.... none of the porn studios mentioned in the articles posted here are listed for either format yet.... that info is available on their websites under Member List / Supporting Companies, but didn't want to post an external link according to the rules of the forum

Personally I could give a flying you know what which one becomes the standard but damn it, one needs to be picked and soon!

As far as movies, the average joe movie watcher really doesn't care about the "extra" features, atleast everyone I've talked too.. so blu-ray IMO is overkill in that respect. and now with triple layer hd-dvd upto 10 layer HD-dvd there really is no point in blu-ray for movies. As far as games go... again IMO I personally usually skip the cutscenes so I'm very much content with standard dvd9, I want to play the damn game not watch a freakn movie. I have a 360 but I'm waiting to see who wins the battle to decide if I'll get a PS3 or just get a HD-DVD addon for the 360.

you're gonna have to explain this one to me..... since i know more about cars then i do video game systems, i'll relate this in terms of cars.... we refer to the Chrysler 300C as the "poor man's Bentley," why? because it looks like one, feels like one, and tries its damnedest to be one - at the dealership, they sell a grill they market as "the Bentley-style grill," how lame....

so tell me, how is a PS3 a "poor man's blu-ray player?" is it much more inferior, is it TRYING to be a blu-ray player, but doesn't quite cut it? is it so much cheaper but everyone knows it will never function as the real thing? is it one of those "you get what you pay for," deals?

watch what you say around here please, you've done enough damage and people have had enough of it already.... there's no need for you to get kicked while you're already on the ground.....

True, HD-DVD can hold more by adding more layers, but so can Blu-ray. HD-DVD holds in 3 layers what Blu-ray can hold in 2.

"Although the Blu-ray Disc specification has been finalized, engineers continue working to advance the technology. Quad-layer (100 GB) discs have been demonstrated. And TDK announced in August 2006 that they have created a working experimental Blu-ray Disc capable of holding 200 GB of data on a single side, using six 33 GB data layers."

HD-DVD can add as many layers as possible, but it will never be able to hold more than Blu-ray which can add additional layers as well.

Just as I thought....Sony didn't ban porn content from Blu-ray:

"Marty Gordon, vice-chair of the Sony's Blu-ray Disc Association Promotions Committee stated:

There is not a prohibition against adult content. The BDA welcomes the participation of all companies interested in using and supporting the format, particularly those from the content industry."

In fact, there are adult films coming out for Blu-ray soon:

"Apparently, big time porn studio Vivid Entertainment recently announced its first Blu-ray porn flick. If you've heard of Jenna Jameson, well, you've heard of Vivid. Anyhow, this just goes to show that the people at Sony and even the Blu-ray disc Association knows how huge the porn industry is, US$12.6 Billion in the U.S. alone, if you want to talk statistics, not including the other four billion greenbacks they get on rentals."
