Assassin's Creed II - New Gameplay Style Revealed Using 'Toys'
New information has been released on the various gadgets or 'toys' you will be able to play with in the upcoming game from Ubisoft, Assassin's Creed II, as follows:
Coins - Assassin's Creed II will feature an economic system allowing you to apparently pickpocket anyone you see and buy extra knives and other objects throughout the game. Ezio also has the ability to throw some coins into the crowd and watch people scramble to pick them, allowing a very juicy time to escape.
Poison - Ezio will be able to acquire poison to use on his hidden blades. The poison eventually kills the target (after a minute or so), but until such a time, the target goes insane, and will babble with madness, trash around and lash out at people and guards.
Smoke Bombs - These were first seen in a preview the developers of the game created at which time they used them to blind the guards and quickly run away.
The toys can also be combined in various ways. Poison a guard and have a crowd of people gather around to watch the show. Then throw some coins on the ground and watch them scramble to pick them up while crazy-pants beats them to a pulp. This creates a nice little distraction, allowing you to sneak past the guards.
These toys are confirmed as being available, in addition to all the cool gadgets Leonardo will whip up for you.
Finally, Ezio will also now possess a "third-person" version of his eagle vision allowing him to better spot targets. Ezio will also be able to find and complete certain mini-challenges / rooms, similar to those found in the Prince of Persia series. The completion of all these rooms will eventually gain the player access to a super rare and useful item.
