HERE's a good idea for you Mr.Employee :

is there a demo disk in the PS3? if so, you really need to copy the disk in your PS3 with all of the UNRELEASED demos online so that you will be respected WORLDWIDE for your greatness by giving us ALL access to brand spankin' new UNRELEASED content !

I actually gained inside info on this the other day... I was told the system is little more than a PS3 shell with a 160GB hard-drive and the reps come by with USB Thumb-drives and upload the content. I don't believe they have the ability to exit demonstration mode.

(I found this out because I wanted to enter demonstration mode)

You could:

Extract the drive from the ps3.
Attach it in your PC
Image it with a tool that does it.
Share the image with the scene ^_^

So the ppl that wanna try the demos could use a new blank hd and put the image on it (to avoid to lose all their PS3 data on their ps3 hdd).

dang, 160GB drive on all those DEMO units? christ, think of how many you've seen so far at Wal-Marts, GameStops, EB Games, etc.... that's pretty serious considering they can't have filled 160GB up with just demo material already!

Yea, but I bet it will be there for the next 4 years, and as the hard-drive goes bad from over user (it is commercial use) they will still have the ability to use other sectors of the hard-drive. Just a guess.

Question Has anyone heard of a "demo" mode ps3?

I found a guy locally selling some ps3 games and a controller for a good price and he says he has a ps3 that he wants to sell for a good price too, but it's stuck in demo mode.

Has anyone heard of this and how to "resolve it".

I would buy the ps3, since he says its a 60 gig, if I could get it to stop acting like it is part of a ps3 demo kiosk.

I'm assuming you can get it out of demo mode with a combination of buttons on the sixaxis. But I think these 'codes' to unlock it are strictly for retailers and the alike.

Or of course it can be bogus. Can't say for sure though.
