I'm not understanding how you can create a file system on a drive without first creating a partition?

I guess I have to come to terms that I'm a noob. Warning upfront I have no knowledge of Linux. SAK doesn't seem to be loading properly for me.

I have installed it and when its loading it's first line is ?????? started, but then the second line is "don't understand action "leasefail". It continues to load into the program but my keyboard doesn't work CAPs or no caps also I assume that next to - IP: it should have the PS3's ip but it's blank so I cant use a keyboard or HTTP.

I did format and re-install just in case I may have missed something but same thing. Any help is appreciated, and I did search so if this is redundant I'm sorry.

What was the solution to using ext3 on an external drive?

What was the solution to using ext3 on an external drive?

Hello,

I come to this forum with praise for the writer of SAK. However, I too have the problem that I can not write to an external hard drive that has been formatted in ext3. I have seen it mentioned in a number of posts in this thread.

Only one post from sc10000 mentions a solution; "Edit: ext3 issue solved" But he (she) doesn't say how it was solved. Anyone else?

Cheers

Guys please do a search there are utilities out there that will let you do this. It's even on a couple of threads in PS3News.

IanJ,

I am not sure what you mean. "That will let you do this" Do you mean there are utilities that will format an external hard drive to ext3? If you do, then I already use Paragon Partition Manager.

But I think you may be also meaning that there are utilities that will format to ext3 without requiring a partition. This seems to be the solution that CJPC was suggesting to sc10000. sc10000 fixed his problem but it has not been reported to this thread in a way that new users can understand.

It probably needs to be stated like this. If you want to use an external hard drive to dump your iso to, then only format it to ext3 using this utility...

BTW I have seen all the links to format fat32 beyond 32gig, but I am trying to use ext3.

Cheers

Hey guys i have just dumped the darkness and when i go to play the video files, the m2v's are encrypted as with the rest of he image.

Is there a way to decrypt ps3 game files because i thought that games don't use a an encryption?

Hi All,

New to the forums... I came over here specifically for SAK after reading a thread on Doom9, but i'm plesantly surprised as to how much is going on.

Anyway. I have a 60gig laptop drive doing nothing so i thought i'd use it to dump blu-ray to the hdd. I've read this thread and if i'm correct i do the following... (can someone confirm)

1) Put the laptop drive in the ps3 (I want my current drive to remain intact)
2) Ps3 will format
3) Get ps3 to install "otherOS"
4) select SAK which is on usb stick (with loader obtained from link in first message all in correct folder)

That's it it's installed... Is it that simple?

Cheers

Dave

Well the actual idea is that no, you don't do that.

I suppose you COULD do that, but its really taking the long way around.

Take a hard disk drive, get a cheap ($20) USB caddy, plug the HDD into the caddy, caddy into the PS3, format it via SAK and you will be all set!
