Dude, you dont need Swap Magic for the process to work, just an original PS2 game matching the region of your PS3.

Understand that. But the thing is I want to stay as far away as I can from actually soldering bits and pieces to my unit at this point.

Im so desperate to finally retire my old PS2 with HDD. I just want to make sure that this works with what I have on hand currently, and that it works well.

You must solder to the motor, there is no other way that would be safe or reliable. The contacts on the motor are that small that there is no chance of getting a clip on it.

You do not have to solder the wires to the switch, I am using crimps on this. (for the short term to test it was working, I will eventually solder the wires to the switch) Im currently making a housing for the switch and battery holder to blend in abit better with the PS3 and some how mount it to the PS3 as if it were part of it

How can i upload a vid that is 99mb to the site and i think 47mb is the max. Would like to show this working.

Thanks

You can't. All you can do is either e-mail us a download link for us to add the video to our archive here, or e-mail us a link to "You Tube" of it. Don't post either link in the Forums, as that is an immediate ban per the Site Rules.

The video is now available here: http://www.ps3news.com/forums/downlo...o=file&id=3824

Ive attached a few pics as well to try and help with people wanting to dismantle their PS3.

A couple of tips:

Be careful when removing the rubber that is used as grip when the PS3 is on the side. It is abit tight and can split easy, it is under the warrenty sticker.

Once the torx bolt is removed, the top cover slides across and lifts up. (The cover slides towards youif you look at the bolt you just removed)

The top section of the PS3 comes off easier if you pull from the rear and angle it as you raise it, as shown in the pic (2nd one)

Be careful if you have a memory card reader, unclip this before sliding the top section off.

The same goes for the Blu ray drive. Lift the drive up and there is another clip that you need to pull back in order for the drive to be completely disconnected from the PS3.

Once the mod was complete I fed my wires to the front of the PS3, underneath the power on/eject circuit board and down the the opposite end under the card reader. I then fed them through one of the vent holes so I did not have to drill a hole or anything.

Hope it may help people wanting to carry this out.

Cheers

Do I need Swap Magic or I can use an original ps3 game? Any way to do this without voiding the warranty? Can someone please explain what exactly I have to do, I can't understand these images...

Thanks in advance.

Keep in mind you will void your warranty as you have to take part of the ps3 apart, unless you can somehow be very careful taking off the warranty sticker.
