PS2 Backups Playable - SwapMagic 3.6 works on fw 1.10!

In a place called "San Andresito" in Bogota, Colombia there is already a method to play ps1-ps2 and ps3 game backups on the ps3. What method could they be using? i am told its a modchip.

a "modchip" but they dont give that information that easy... ill take my ps3 there and see if its true... will post if it works.

Nex111 a bit of advice, if you don't even know which screwdriver to use to open the bd drive, forget about the mod altogether cause that's the very easy part of the mod

SwapMagic 3.6 works on my EU1.90.

I can even swap an original ps2 disc with it by simply pressing the eject button (too bad inserting a backup results in swapmagic telling me that it isn't a ps2 game )

Cool, do you have any different region ps2 games you could try? My theory was that this would (might) work for different region ps2 games without having to open up the console But noone has confirmed this for me yet.

I tried swap magic 3.8 on my pal ps3 fw 1.5. Although it started up it wouldn´t load the original ps2 games i tried. Crazi Taxi and tekken which do run on 1.5 :?? so I´m not sure if the disk doesn´t work or if the procedure doesn´t work. anybody try this yet?

What exactly do you mean with "SwapMagic 3.6 works" when in the next sentence you say that it doesn't correctly process the backup. Is that the same as saying ... "doesn't work"? :??
