Where are you guys getting the update from? Cuz, I logged on the US playstation site and it's still listing FW1 1.54.

for the same reason many of us have been updating all along - we enjoy actually USING the PS3 instead of letting it sit around on old firmware with a hope and dream that ONE DAY we'll be able to steal games.... one day.... that may never come!

i'm not going to sit and wait with such an expensive toy - and like everyone else has said or even done already, for some of us its possible to go and return it for a "new" unit with a lower firmware if the need arises - which it most certainly hasn't

btw, playing online rocks, as does being able to play some of the more recent PS3 games, you should look into it! :tongue2

Good news is you can still use the proxy bypass to skip this update and go online. Of course 1.51 is required.

First of all I'll be stuck with 1.5 as its a Euro PS3 I'll be getting.

And it hasnt been confirmed yet whether online play is possible or not if there were an ISO loader.
