it seems that any region will work. I don't know if the ps3 or the game gives u the option to change video mode, but maybe in firmware 1.8 and up the upscaling may be working for all regions.

An original PS2 game of your PS3 region must be used before using the switch. Once this is done, you can then play and region PS2 games. I have a Jap PS3 and have now bought a Jap Devil May Cry for the PS2 as this has a large TOC so will play most dvd5 discs.

I am currently using a Jap version of The Bouncer but with that only being arond 2.5gb in size, I can not load backups that are above this size. Hence the reason for buying DMC.

I finally got my T15 secure torx driver and opened my ps3! I made the mod sucessfully. I had a small prb with the drive coz i had rfom inside, but finally i made it.

2 switch mod- Sensor switch under the card reader hood, and the other switch behind. Ps3 is fully working but i still haven't got an NTSC/J game, to test it. I'll buy MGS3 again in ntsc.j since it has the biggest size length.

A question: I notice that if you have a disk in the drive, to switch it, you must wait 5 mins, until it spins down. Is there a way (other than hardware) to bypass this time?

where did you get that info that the swap magic disk stops spinning on ps3? because i don't even think it stops spinning on the ps2. so i'm curious.. did you see with your eyes, on the ps3 modded with switch?

Of course it stops spinning on the ps2. How do you think everyone switches the disk?

Yeah it makes sense for the ps2 since Swap Magic was designed for it. However on the PS3, is it certain that it stops the disc? I thought Swap Magic didn't work at all on PS3 since their discID was banned in the firmware or something..
