You can run PAL backups and play them on a US console and TV if they have a Hz selecter. You can also use swapmagic and force them into NTSC mode.

Can someone do my a huge favor and take a SwapMagic 3.6 Plus DVD and load it in your or a friends 1.50 firmware PS3 and tell me if it loads?

vampirex so are you saying that you loaded a ps2 backup on your ps3 with swap magic 2.0 or that swap magic just loaded?

i don't have any experience with any of these swapping disks for the ps2.. but how would you be able to utilize one without opening your ps3? either i am clueless, or your post makes no sense... since to use a swap method, you'd need to swap the disk w/o hitting eject... which means only way is to open ps3 since it is slot loader.

correct me if i am wrong in my thinking. I'm just a curious person by nature

You are correct, but what HACKpolska is saying also makes since in a way. From what I understand, the PAL PS3 was redesigned and eliminated the PS2 chip and handles the PS2 games through emulation. That may be the difference that would allow swapping. With that said, I'm sure by this time someone has already tried it, and if it worked, we would already know about it.

No to both of you. There is still no way to run any ps2 backup from the PS3 HDD.

Sony only mean games like RE: Outbreak and FFX Jap and FFXI that can be installed partially on the HDD, it doesnt mean they support HDAdvance games.

I'm assuming not unless you open your PS3 and swap in Swap magic then swap out to your game.
