I think it (Swap Magic) was blacklisted in one of the PS3 Firmware updates (1.5+?) but from what I have seen Codebreaker still works up to 1.8 or so. If someone can confirm re: Swap Magic that would be cool.

Breaker Pro is for playing PSOne Imports... Swap Magic Coder is still Swap Magic, which is for PS2 Imports/back-ups.

Small tutorial

1) Open your PS3
2) Disasemble BD Drive (you must see the laser)
3) Insert original game (when you insert it, i reccomend to put the db drive's plastic cover on its place, and dont forget about magnet).
4) Wait before disc stop spinning
5) Now remove the original game and put in your backup (now you dont need plastic cover, just insert the disc and put the magnet right on it)
6) Press "play", its work!

This method works with PS1 backups, PS2 backups, DVD movies, you now can use PAL, JAP, NTSC discs, region dont matter with this swap.
Thank You very much Vaan. I have done this and it worked sweetly although i have a few Questions:

When i take lid off to swap the game, the disc is sort of lodged into something which with little force does come out, is this normal?

now this is a bit of a noob question or whatever... but is there no way of having me to press eject after 5 minutes, without this 3 switch mod battery trick? can i not cover the sensor and press eject, or is the eject also telling the console the disc is leaving?

cheers

some peeps don't understand, the switch mod doesn't stop the disc spinning so if you don't wait 5 minutes you hurt the laser. The switch mode is only there to make the disc swap possible with the PS3 closed.

But the logic is the same, swap the disc when ps3 doesn't expect it and therefore doesn't stop the disc spinning.

I am on jpn ps3 1.82 and have ordered swap magic 3.6+ japan version to make the swap easier without waiting for 5 minutes since swap magic tells the ps3 to stop spinning. I have the thread entirely minutes ago and it's confusing regarding swap magic compatiblilty and ps3.

Some guys say it works, some not, some certain versions, all bs, so i ordered a set of version 3.6+ and i'll tell you guys how it works, or not.

Ok report time peeps.

Good news: Swap Magic 3.6 + have a big TOC so can be used to boot everything.

Bad news: Swap Magic doesn't stop the laser so you have to wait 10 minutes before inserting backup so that the laser is safe.

other good news: the swap trick with switch still works perfect on 1.90, enjoy guys!

So I will be selling this Swap Magic 3.6 + Japan version since I have already big TOC discs for booting. Let me know if anyone's interested.

I have made a little discovy for booting PS1 import backup games, they don't boot if they are not patched for the same region as the PS3. Just use a soft called SetRegion to patch to like, Japan zone if you have have a japan PS3, burn and it will work.

Good luck.

theshadowrunner, If swap magic dont stop the laser, what sense to using it?

You can use every original game for swap without swapmagic.

Not exactly ps3rock. For PS2 games the TOC is very important. In order to ensure you can boot everything, you wanna get an original with a huge TOC such as DMC. If you don't have any, Swap Magic does the trick, but ONLY for the TOC.
