Question

Could these patents and such make it easier for PS3 Devs to create an iso loader? I mean if Sony can create an emulator embedded in the Cell to read Ps2 discs then can't Devs make an emulator to run of backed-up DVD's?

I mean I understand the benefit of it and all, just alot of times I hear it hyped like it's one of the most awesome features ever. And THAT is what I don't get, it's nice, but not THAT awesome imo (maybe that's just cause I always keep the old system til I realize I'm not playing any old games at all anymore).

That being said, this is good news because evidently alot of people do want this. And this should prove to help Sony with the evident demand for this feature to be put back in.

And who knows, I might even get around to going back and finally playing the old Ico games and GOW games, without having to go get another ps2 (or bothering getting that one back from my sis). I think where this will really shine is in being able to download ps2 games and it actually work now.
Well I personally am excited because I never had a PS2 and there are only a few games I really would like to play, so it's not worth it for me to shell out the money for a PS2. Especially since the feature used to be included in PS3's and was removed.

I think you did get the point at the end, I for example didnt play all the ps2 games I wish I had. Having ps2 compatibility on my ps3 is good but not as good as having the games on the psn store. I can go back to play games I missed out that are playing a major role today, like GOW a game I didnt play.

Or what about a great rpg you didnt get to play, lets be honest the ps2 had hundreds and hundreds of amazing titles and I doubt you had the chance to play them all. The ps2 lived for almost 10 years surprising gamers and you can get almost any genre out of it. I do go back to consoles or emulators to play games that I missed out, like chrono trigger or final fantasy vii I played them for the first time last year.

I understand that a lot of people dont want to play something "old" but I and a lot of people do play old stuff thats epic or that made a difference. I enjoy an old game as much as a new game as long as its a GOOD game, specially RPGS and shooters.
