Get an attitude check please. This thread is under the Newbies forum group and it is a reasonable question from a newbie to others with much more knowledge of the inner workings of the PS3: will this current breakthough allow DVD region checking to be removed?

Sorry! Didn't mean to sound like an old fart but i just get a feeling that so many threads are infected with these questions over and over. I don't think anyone can answer what is possible in the future, but still the same kind of questions is posted so many times.

But, you may be right, this is the newbie forum. Even i am a newbie according to the stats.

Hi, sorry about my propably stupid question. My PS3 is trapped in software update, so it is showing the software update screen but can not get any data from harddisk, as it is formatted.

I am desperately trying to fix it, infectus2 is ordered. Is it possible that also an ECC error had caused 8002F1C1 (update ended at 56%) ? The best thing would if I could use a dump from a working one and write it to mine, but I learned this is not possible. That means for me the only way is to work with the dump from my ps3.

Assuming that the first chip has been written correctly and the second is just a mirror which isn't completely written, can I write the data from the first nand to the second ? I would really apreciate if someone could comment on this.
