Vegas Video Not Opening .m2v files.

I recently ripped the FFX-2 movies of the game as .pss files and after a extracted them I got a .m2v file and a .wav file. I planed to open them both up in Sony Vegas Video, but the .m2v file was not supported by the program. So is there a way to make this program open .m2v files?
