No, there are no arcs of electricity. Think of those "shake-to-charge" flashlights with a magnet running through a coil (when a magnetic field comes into contact with a coil electricity is produced). On one end the power is being transmitted as magnetic energy, on the other it is being picked up by a coil. A similar technology has been used to charge electronic tooth-brushes for a few years.
