I really want a USA/NTSC region based slimline PS2 console in satin silver color. To do this, I plan to purchase a regular black slimline PS2 here in the USA -AND- a satin silver slimline PS2 from Europe. I will dismantle the casing to both PS2 consoles and swap the internal components which will result in one satin silver USA PS2 console and one black EURO PS2 console. If anyone thinks for any reason that this will not work, please let me know right away. Here are also a few concerns of mine in doing this operation:
1) As I have come to understand, at least here in the USA, Sony puts out a new model number of PS2 every so often, like every few months or so. The changes between each new model being changes in the internal programming or layout of the motherboard inside the PS2 or something. My question is, are these new models and revisions of the slimline PS2 universal to all regions around the world? Meaning for example is the SCPH-75001 v14 in the USA the same one as in Europe? Or is there a different model number system in different regions? Would this necessarily mean that if I plan to do this operation, that I have to make sure that both PS2s I purchase are EXACTLY the same model number or else the case swapping won't work?
2) On the outside casing of every retail slimline PS2 are stickers on the back which indicate various technical details regarding that specific console, including a unique serial number. In doing this case swapping, I would also like to safely swap the stickers and serial numbers on the cases. Is this possible without damaging either the cases or the stickers?
3) Finally just to be clear, I am already well aware of the third party silver satin slimline PS2 casing which they call the Metal Gear Silver case or something I think. However I don't like it because they removed all the engraved logos and text from the casing making it appear completely blank from any logos or text at all. My primary reason for wanting to do this operation is so it will look like a genuine unique PS2 console made by Sony with all the appropriate labeling and logos. However if there are any other third party developers of satin silver slimline PS2 console casings available for purchase, please let me know right away so that I might look over high res pics of these other products and make an informed decision.
