PS2 V4 Motherboard PS1 Fuse

Is there any data on the PS1 fuse other than it is 400mA SM? I have seen sites that list it as FCC16 401 AD or a Regulator with the marking "ED".

I am trying to track down some but any supplier is out of stock or they are discontinued. I have been looking at digi-key but all their SM fuses are either 375mA or 500mA, there are no 400mA SM fuses.

I have checked fuse manufacturers and anything close have been discontinued so does anyone have any specs on it to match up with what is out right now?

You should be able to use the 375mA fuse it is close to the size that is in there now,all it will do is it will blow a little faster if it is overheated or if a short has occured but not much faster than the one that is in there now.

Sorry, one more quick question, is there a large concern about the voltage rating since most have their voltage rating at 32+ volts? It is just the mA that we are concerned about, correct?

The fuse you are replacing PS1 is for the 3.3v regulator [12 volt input] on a v4 ps2 but i don`t know what voltage flows through this fuse,never had to do one yet,and as long as the mA are close to the original you should be fine.When you get the new fuse you can just solder it on top of the old one or beside it and just solder the ends a little so they attach to the old fuse and that`s it,this way you don`t even have to take the old one off,saves time and much easier to do this way.

Yes, it is just the current (mA) rating you should worry about. The voltage rating indicates the maximum voltage that the fuse can operate with, and since there certainly isn't more than 32 volts going through that fuse…

Yes JCWohlschlag is correct the fuse can operate in a fairly wide voltage range,which i forgot to mention sorry about that,i just meant that i didn`t know the actual voltage that flows through the fuse itself and just keep the mA`s as close to the original fuse as you can.

Funny but this is the first one myself to have the "ED" fuse gone on a board. I have a feeling it use to be more common with the swap chip installs (The chips that plug into the reset/eject cable and tray motor) for this one had one installed and they had a bunch of components missing (Looks like some sort of botched soldering job).
