New to Swapping
Hi, I am kinda new to making backups of my current games. I bought swap magic and it works like a dream. I am very curious about playing other games of mine that have trouble loading.
For Example, I bought nba street v3 and made a back up, but it wont get past the loading screen. I wen to swapmagicfix.com and it lead me to a thread here to this website. The is suppose to be a "TOC" fix here?
Here is my problem, I dont even know what the word "TOC" means better yet how to apply it to my problem. If there is someone who can help me or can that can write a step by step process on howI can get my game to play, I would greatly appreciate it.
Thanks,
jimtim2000
p.s. I have a fliptop case ps2. version 3.

The Table Of Contents FiX is linked to the PS2 game TOC list here because you must simply use a game with a larger TOC than the one you are trying to play a back-up of. Therefore, check yours on the list, and use any larger than it to load the back-up of such 'problem' titles with the Swap Magic Discs.
Also, NEVER post the same topic in more than one Forum here! This is your ONLY warning before a permanent IP BAN as it's clearly stated in our RULES!

one last question
Hi PS3News.COM,
Lets say for example I have 5.99GB USA MGS2: Substance, and I want to do the swap like you stated above. What exactly is the process. I dont know what I am doing wrong. I have nba street v3 and it gets to the part of the game where it wants to load up, but it stays there. Can you help with the exact process for dummies  I am a little new to swapping out three disc or what not. Thank you very much in advance.
p.s. I have a fliptop case ps2. version 3. and swap magic 3.3 dvd/cd

As for NBA Street V3, SwapMagicFix.com has two indicators for solutions: - The "TOC" indicator just means that you can boot a 1:1 copy by doing a TOC refresh with a larger TOC disc. To do a TOC refresh:
- Boot your Swap Magic CD or DVD (version 3.0 or later), then press the eject button. The screen will give you an Insert bigger TOC disc prompt. Put in an original large-TOC PS2 DVD-5, and press eject again. The screen will say Refresh TOC, then present the standard screen where you can swap in your backup the normal way.
- Boot CDLoader or DVDLoader. At the Change the disc and press X to play prompt, press traingle or eject. Put in an original large-TOC PS2 DVD-5, and press traingle or eject again. Then, press X to read the disc, and at the Put in a DVDR by EA method and press X to play prompt, swap in your backup.
- Boot CogSwapLoader CD or DVD. At the "blue disc" or "yellow disc" prompt, press eject and put in an original large-TOC PS2 DVD-5, and press eject again. When the "yellow disc" prompt returns, press X to read the disc. The "purple disc" prompt will appear where you can swap in your backup.
A list of TOC sizes can be found in the Official PS2 DVD TOC List thread. You must use an original, pressed DVD-5 (Metal Gear Solid 2: Substance is not a DVD-5) PS2 disc with a larger TOC than the backup you are trying to boot. In this case, FIFA Soccer 2005, Resident Evil: Outbreak, or Devil May Cry would be your best choices.
- The "Go»" indicator links you to the Swap Magic fixes in the Site Utilities, where you can find the NBA Street: Volume 3 USA (PROTOCOL) SMFIX. Run this patch and follow the instructions in the NFO to make your backup not need a TOC refresh.

You do it the same exact way as what I explained above. You will need to perform a TOC refresh with an original game that has the same (because you won't find larger) TOC size as Sonic Heroes. Resident Evil: Outbreak and Devil May Cry would be good choices.
Another option you have with this title, as with many games that have large dummy files in them, is to remove or replace the dummy file by rebuilding the image.

You either have the Tools > Settings > ISO Read Mode > File Splitting option set to force the file splitting, or you are using a FAT32 partition (such as in Windows 95/98/Me) when files over 4 GB can only be stored on an NTFS partition (such as in Windows NT/2000/XP). If you've got Windows 95/98/Me, and you cannot create an NTFS partition, you're pretty much SOL as far as patching. Use a large-TOC disc to do a TOC refresh and the game should boot fine. Check out the FIFA Street thread for more details.

Hi Rook, thanks for that reply, i have backed up my copy of nba street 3, i have the iso image and intend to use that swapmagicfix patch, but whenever i run the patch it fails, this is after renaming the iso to the same as required in the .nfo and in the same folder... does anyone have any experience with using this patch?? and does anyone think that rebuilding the iso would help?
