mod chip install gone bad - PS3 NEWS

Hello out there if any of the techies here can give me some advice...Here is the situation I attepmpted to install a magic5 chip on my ps2 at first it would only play original games then redid the install and messed it up more red light would go on then shut off over and over again stays on now but wont play any disk at no original no backup no CD no nothing could someone direct me here on how to fix or possible solution...Your time is appreciated and I thank you in advance.

Well some common problems with soldering in mod chips is that the soldering points are so darn small... its very easy to bridge them and it also very hard to get nice good connections. That is of course unless your a seasoned pro at soldering to very fine points. I myself just paid the extra 25 bucks and got a DMS4 EZI PRO... Ive got a fully modded fully functional self installed mod chip now and it was worth the extra money. Even if you break it down the chips are at least 50 each and installs at cheapest are around 40 dollars each... so thats 90 instead of the 75$ I paid and I did it myself.

thanks for the help I uninstalled the chip to get it done by a pro and even with chip now uninstalled PS2 plays no games original or back up or any media for that sake.

I'd suggest cleaning the lens first. You might've accidently touched it while working on the PS2.

I use a multimeter to determine shortcuts on motherboards, I install modchips and sometimes I bridge points together by mistake. I use a wire mesh to undo the bridge points, but if you are a newbie is likely you have caused some damage to your board specially if the problem is at the power point +5.

Also check around the bios chip as this is a common place for solder to be bridged,use a magnifying glass to check closely as it just takes a small strand of solder to bridge two points together.

WOWchamp where'd you get the modchip?
Is it easily installed ( I know stupid Q)
I've heard of nonsoldar chips but it seems to me like the wires would easily fall/slip/pull out of the "holes" your supposed to put them in, howed you go about making sure they stay put?

I installed a DMS4 EZI Lite, and it truly is that easy and is solderless. You don't put wires in ANY holes. There are clips and connectors. Hardest parts are dissassembly, assembly, and flashing the BIOS.

ok I was thinking about the Xbox non solder chips. those your supposed to place in holes or something like that
