i have tested a i7 but i consider its not worth the price either. i prefer a Phenom II X4 they are cheaper and they are very quick in the daily use. if you want to overclock one of those you should consider buying a Black Box model.

The new i7's are very fast and clock for clock the fastest on the consumer market right now but also by far the most expensive.

I just built a system using a Phenom II X4 940 Black Edition and you will be blown away by this chip. For less then $200 this baby packs a big punch... I only have it at stock right now because even at 2.6ghz it blows my Opteron 165 3.0ghz right out of the water. ConvertXtoDVD processes almost 4 times as many frames per second with this phenom at 2.6ghz compared to my opty at 3.0ghz.

Loading up Windows 7 from cold boot to fully loaded desktop is 30 seconds. Installing Windows 7 took 12 min.

Save yourself a lot of money and go with a Phenom 2.

AMD is definitely great value for the money, but if you are considering going Hackintosh, a core i7 is the easier way to go (as far as finding kexts (apple drivers) and kernels).
