Are you sure this won't work ?
Interesting is the following. I formatted the original hdd on the PC after the system has shown me failure 0800xF1C1 all the time. I formatted first with fat32 then with ext3. Although it has been formatted twice this hdd is still detected as the proper one, the dialog about updating the system is on the screen. So obviously the hdd id is not in the partition table and has not been overwritten while formatting. All other hdd make the ps3 shutting down after 20sec.
If you are interested I can do a photo how the flat cable is inserted now, with the infectus being detected.
No, i have the third one now and still the same issue. The problem is the connector of the flat cable on the chip. I was able to get a proper connection in one position when the cable is inserted in an angle. I am very disappointed about the infectus quality. Anyway, I programmed "Double Nand", but then the NAND on the board where not detected (external power). It might have been because of the soldering, so I disassembled everything and tried if I still get something on the TV...and yes same status as before. At the minute I am trying a bit with the filesystem as I have a working 40GB version. A theory: When the next update comes, I will wait until all the files are copied on the working one, then I will switch it off, clone the hard disc, boot the broken one its original hdd and then swap the drives while running. If the hdd key is just checked at boot and the filesystem is not dynamically encrypted, then this might work.
