Verify a burned disc with the GC
Is there anyway to verify that the GC can read a whole disc that you've burned? I've tried to use several rip programs, but I could only make them work with original games.

I'm not sure what you are asking but the GC will not read a full size DVD completely, the laser does not travel far enough and you will get a clicking sound and if continued, the laser and arm will be damaged.

So whats the point of getting a replacment case for full size media then?Im fine with paying a few dollars more for mini dvd's,but i was gonna go with using full size media so i can backup my two disc games to play on a single full size dvd-r.But what your saying is the laser wont reach the outer edge of a full size dvd?

I'm asking in terms of burn quality, I want to make sure the gamcube can read the whole backup, so it doesn't stop somwhere in the middle of the game.

I do verify the backups when I burn them with the computer, but the GC still fails to read some discs which the computer dvd player can read.

I'm not trying to read a full dvd, I'm trying to verify that the GC can read the whole backup, without having to play the whole game.

Yep, sorry to say but that is exactly what I am saying. The benefit right now for the full size discs are the cost and if you burn a lot on your PC then you just get your favourite media by buying bulk and save even more.

To be honest,There really isnt many GC games that are worth burning IMO.So $2 dollars/per mini dvd isnt that bad.I bought two 10 packs for $40 dollars, and they will probably last me 6 months.I bought the office depot brand, and i heard they are ritek G04,and the 3 games i backed up play perfect.Dont get me wrong i love my GC for mario, and zelda games, but its just a matter of time till GC dies. Its a shame that all these modchips came out now,but i guess this is what nintendo wanted.Think about it.GC sales are doing good, and the next gen systems are around the corner. Now that modchips are out,Nintendo sales are gonna go up for hardware just in time for the new consoles.

I think everyone is also missing the point that you can pad your games to 3gig with fullsize media and reduce possible DRE's (yes, I realize that v 1.0 helped with that, but every little bit helps) which are just a pain in the ass...as for only a few games that you want, why buy the modchip
and don't despair, for all we know, a new chip for the revolution may come out that will allow a similar exploit to play these same backups on all our new consoles, Fullsize just gives a better quality burn, and its a money saver, depending on how much you use the GC for

I bought a modchip mainly for homebrew apps and emulators.I am fully aware that i could do the swap trick without a modchip, but i preferr to stick a disc in and play. But my main reason for pre ordering a new case was to multi 2 disc games into one dvd-r so i dont have to keep swapping my originals discs. But from the looks of it,its gonna cause problems. So i will just stick to mini dvd's.

you can mulit-disks onto minis even, just depends on how big the actual game is, check the other posts, a lot of smaller games will fit onto one disc (animal crossing is tiny). I personally like having one disc per game, but other people have had a lot of success with the current tools, and then there's always the rumor of a possible hard drive for the GC...only time will tell
