Top Five Developers for Microsoft's XBox 360 and Sony's PS3
There are plenty of great developers out there and some that certainly deserve massive credit for the awesome games they bring consumers year in and year out. Unfortunately though, we have cut the list to five as follows: 5. Guerilla Games: Guerilla Games is a Sony first party developer. The company is based in Amsterdam and is best known for its Killzone series. As everyone probably knows, Guerilla Games latest game is Killzone 2 for the PlayStation 3. To develop a game of the quality of Killzone 2 is brilliant. Killzone 2 is without a doubt in the Top 5 best looking games of this generation. With Killzone 2, it wasn't just about creating a great shooting game. It was also about creating a complete online multiplayer experience with fully integrated statistical tracking, leaderboards and clan implementation on Killzone's http://www.killzone.com/. 4. Epic Games: Epic Games was founded in 1991 and is based in Cary, North Carolina. With a history based around PC titles like the Unreal series and the development of their much licensed Unreal Engine, Microsoft approached Epic to make a Killer App for the Xbox 360. In 1996, Gears of War was released on the Xbox 360 and later on the PC. Its graphics blew everyone away and it quickly became a cult hit for the Xbox 360 and a best seller. Even though the second game did disappoint some Gears fans, the affect that Epic has had on the sale of Xbox 360 consoles and the influence Gears has had on the shooting genre in general is immeasurable. 3. Bungie: Bungie was founded in 1991 and was originally based in Chicago. In 2000, Bungie was acquired by Microsoft, but in late 2007 it split from Microsoft to become a privately held independent company. The then-current project, first person shooter Halo: Combat Evolved, was turned into a launch title for Microsoft's first console, the original Xbox. Halo quickly became the original Xbox's flagship title with millions of copies being sold worldwide. As a result of this and the subsequent excellent sequel Halo 2, Bungie developed Halo 3 for the Xbox 360. Halo 3 has since become the most successful Xbox 360 title and arguably the most successful title of this generation with massive sales. It's integration with http://www.bungie.net/, Bungie's official Web site, which includes forums as well as statistics-tracking and integration with Halo 3 and Halo 2, respectively is also a major part of its success. Bungie's continual support for Halo 3 with downloadable content is why Halo 3 is amongst the top titles played on Xbox Live today. 2. Codemasters: Codemasters was founded in 1985 and is one of the longest running British video game developers. Codemasters Is famous for many long running game series including the Colin McRae racing series and the Brian Lara Cricket series. Codemasters has made many great games on the current systems like GRID, DiRT and Overlord. They are currently working on DiRT 2 and are also about to release the game "FUEL". To win a copy of FUEL click here to enter our competition. In May 2008, it was announced that Codemasters had won the rights to the Formula One license after the deal with Sony elapsed. Codemasters continued support of all platforms is testament to their proud history of developing quality video games. 1. Capcom: Capcom was founded in 1979 and is headquartered in Osaka, Japan. Capcom is famous for so many games/series that it is a list that is too long to detail. Most people would associate them with the Street Fighter series and the Resident Evil series. Capcom has developed for just about every platform imaginable from the Arcade to the Super Nintendo and now the Xbox 360 and PS3. Capcom have released a great list of titles on the PS3 and Xbox 360. These titles include Lost Planet, Street Fighter 4, Resident Evil 5 and Dead Rising. They are currently developing Lost Planet 2 and Dead Rising 2 which many of us are hoping will have great showings at this year's E3. The main reasoning why Capcom have got our vote for the number one developer on PS3 and 360 is due to the awesome Resident Evil 5. Although it has a few little graphical glitches, it is without a doubt the best looking game on either the Xbox 360 or PS3 to date. Couple that with great gameplay and you have an instant classic on your hands. More PlayStation 3 News... |

![]() This whole list is written off like it was some sort of half hazy dream session from the mind of an 80-year old insomniac dude who just read these titles off some game shop window while walking his old dog, and managed to remember some of the colorful names on the posters. This is almost complete nonsense. Fellow admins, please refrain from belittling the quality of the news from your site by subscribing to these crude amateurish attempts at journalism. Some of the companies like Epic and Guerilla Games, definitely have a top spot, but Guerilla only made Killzone and Epic didn't do much other than the renowned GoW series. There are so many game companies who best all of those mentioned in the list. What about Insomniac?! It won the best company award this year, i think it was something about the "best place to work" award. And its games are far from being light or easily forgotten releases. There is Ready at Dawn for god of war. How could that old freak who wrote this, ever forget that??! Anyways, this is a lost cause and if i explain more, i should be the one rewriting this article from scratch.

I don't think RE5 is THAT great. Sure It's enjoyable, but it could have been alot better if they had listened to fans or something. The game lacks one of the most important thing in the RE series (even RE4 still had some of it!): Ambient. The controls aren't bad imho. The graphics are indeed awesome, but it's not the best looking game. At least not on the PS3. And it's definately not the best RE game. As mentioned above, where did Konami go, or Naughty Dog or Insomniac. Ok Epic Games and Bungie are the developers that brought succes to the 360, but codemasters?? I'm ok with Capcom being on that list. However i'm not sure if it should be on 1st place, because they made flawed sequels like Resident Evil 5 and Street Fighter IV. Both seem to lack stuff. (Can't believe they took that long to make SF IV. They could have added alot more to the game!) |
