Terrafugia Announces 'Transition' Flying Car First Test Flight

Imagine seeing one of these at the pumps, eh? This morning, March 18th, 2009 at 9:30am a Press Conference was held at the Boston Museum of Science.

Terrafugia, the company behind the 2-seat transforming plane/car dubbed the Transition announced news of the first successful test flight.

It transforms in under 30 seconds, flies at over 115mph, and fits in a residential garage. A video of it in action is available http://cosmos.bcst.yahoo.com/up/player/popup/?cl=12550086.

This is the first news I have seen on http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Jetsons style flying cars since the http://www.moller.com/ was announced.

For those interested, you can become a Sport Pilot in as little as 20 hours of flight time in a Transition-specific course. For existing pilots, get comfortable quickly with the familiarization training included with every Transition delivery.

The price? Anticipated purchase price: $194,000.

The only questions remaining on this transformer is: is it an Autobot or a Decepticon? :P

the moller looks better but this is still a pretty cool feat of technology!

maybe in about another decade we'll see a more slim lined-aerodynamic version which is more comercial... and better priced

its not a flying car. its a little airplaine which can collapse his wings and roll over the street. sensless news =/
