June 21, 2007 - As reported through industry site Gamasutra earlier today, a new developer by the name of Epicenter Studios has announced its first entry into the world of Wii with a system-exclusive firefighting game currently titled http://wii.ign.com/objects/945/945149.html. The game is described as a "family-friendly" action puzzler that seeks to host "non-violent, game-integral puzzles that mirror the challenges and on-the-fly choices firefighters actually face," as stated by Epicenter CCO Bryan Jury.
The team, made up of former Call of Duty, Shrek, Spider-Man, and Star Trek producers, commented briefly on a new technology known as "Thinking Fire," which is said to give gamers unique gameplay experiences through "unexpected changes to the environments that will suddenly alter the player's options and strategies."
Information thus far on Real Heroes: Firefighter is scarce, but Epicenter Studios seems optimistic that its Wii-exclusive design is a perfect fit for Nintendo's new system, as it appeals to casual gamers who seek a realistic, yet casual-friendly experience on the system. Jury once again expressed his feelings on the game, stating that "Combining our unique fire tech with the specific strengths of the Wii was a natural choice for us as we designed Real Heroes. The Wii-mote makes spraying down fires with you hose, hacking down doors with your axe, and prying victims loose from wrecked cars with the Jaws of Life in an absolutely visceral game experience."
We'll have more on Real Heroes: Firefighter as information becomes available. Be sure to keep checking back to IGN Wii for further news and media.
