PS3 News Scheduled Downtime, Forum Upgrades & Logo Thread

Just a quick heads-up to everyone, starting this weekend (not an April 1st joke) we will begin upgrading the vB3 Forums we currently use to http://www.vbulletin.com/index.php?do=screenshots, and through the transition there will be some scheduled downtime while our server cat works his magic!

Once the vB4 upgrade itself is complete, we will undergo another few weeks of work with some minor downtime while porting the remaining modules to vB4, followed by implementing some of your 2011 suggestions to our site. If you have any feel free to contribute them to the thread and we will do our best to make it happen.

Additionally, we are currently seeking a new site logo- if you are a graphic artist and would like to share some design concepts check out this ongoing thread... if we end up selecting one posted we will send the artist a $100 PayPal gift to express our appreciation.

Thanks to everyone who has shared their PS3 News site suggestions and logo designs to date, and we look forward to checking out new ones as time permits!

That is still a ways off I imagine... but what we should see this weekend is the stock vB4 style running on this site if all goes well though.

With it, the only immediate changes (aside from the look) will be the addition of the Private Messaging and the Last Read feature which allows users to pick up on thread posts where you left off reading.

The vB4 blog feature we currently have turned off, but once everything else is running smoothly we may turn it on if there is enough demand. However, most people have their own blogs already so I am not sure how useful they would really be short of spammers using them to try peddling their junk which we wouldn't allow anyway.

The Portal (main news page) will be up for most of the Forum downtime this weekend, so technically yes we can post new news... it just won't be "discussable" until the Forum side is back online.

If all goes according to plan, the Forums should be back up by late Friday night or early Saturday morning (depending on which timezone you are in) but then from Saturday through Sunday they may go up and down as everything is readded to the vB4 Forums.

The goal is to have the Site/Forum back online with most parts functional by Sunday night, and then as time permits we can continue work porting, adding and fixing the less critical areas (such as the Site downloads section, latest PS3 News Forum block, etc).
