A Peek in GameStop's Video Game & Console Refurbishing Facility

Ever wondered what GameStop's video game and console refurbishing facility looks like?

The folks at DallasNews (linked above) have made available pictures of one including how consoles are cleaned and tested.

To quote: Workers test rows of consoles, including vintage Xbox systems. Both movies and games are tested on the systems that support DVD or (with the PS3) Blu-ray playback.

GameStop's refurbishment facility is as loud as it busy, since almost every station has a compressed air nozzle hanging from overhead to clean out dust from inside consoles. It's the high-tech, industrial version of blowing on your NES cart.

After the game discs have been removed from their original packaging, inspected and cleaned, they go back into cases and are sorted for shipment back to the stores.

PSP systems are tested in batches of 30, with multiple batches scattered around the warehouse. Some workers were busy disassembling, cleaning, soldering and repairing PSPs.

Ill tell you though, ok Dora the Explorer is boring to anyone above the mental age of 4 therefore GameStop but put it on all TVs so that employees have nothing better to do than work
