October 25, 2009 Update - ALL READ: Do not reply to threads over a week old or you will receive a -Rep, meaning it will take DOUBLE as long for you to be promoted to a Registered User. Also, over the last 2 weeks several Registered and Jr. Member class users have been banned because they replied to old threads (such as the PS3 Guides/Tutorials) with generic/useless "THANKS" posts. This is considered bumping a thread for no good reason as outlined below, so do NOT reply to threads unless you are contributing new information and not just adding a late "Thanks, this helped me too!" reply to them. ![]() How to Download Files and Access the PS3 Dev Area It requires (2) Quality Posts or Replies to be promoted from Newbie to Registered User to download files or view the PS3 Dev section. This promotion is MANUAL (not automatic), meaning you will NOT become a Registered User until the Staff have reviewed and approved your (2) Quality Posts or Replies so making BS ones will only waste your time as you will never be promoted. ![]() The best way to advance your User Rank quickly from Newbie to Registered User is to provide helpful replies to UnAnswered Posts, add meaningful comments to the Site News articles, and Submit News that is current and interesting... or get a Premium Membership. What are Quality Posts? They are posts or replies made on our Site News page or Forums that show us you are an intelligent person (not a BOT) who is interested in gaming. They should be in English, be longer than one sentence and express your personal views, experiences or opinions on the news articles our Staff and members spend time sharing here... or making a helpful reply to one of our UnAnswered Posts also counts as a Quality Post. What are Non-Quality Posts? Generic Posts are such things as: 1) Just agreeing with what the guy posting above you said, without adding any new information, opinion, or reasoning. This is considered a DUPE post, and includes restating content that they said instead of making your own. 2) Posting off-topic in a thread. If the thread is on PS3 HDD we don't want to read about why your 360 HDD gets errors. The same applies for asking for help in the "PS3 Links ONLY" Sticky thread, etc- keep threads on topic! Useless Posts are such things as: 1) Replying to a thread "cool, thx!" or "nice!!!" or "thanks for the info" or "thx for tutorial!!!" type replies, or re-requesting something that has already been requested (such as a PS Store link). These are all deemed USELESS, and those who post them get their account flagged/banned by the Staff. 2) Replying to a thread that is over a week old with no new USEFUL content, such as a solution to the person's problem. We don't need people bumping old threads just to say "that happens to me too!" or "same here!" UserGroup Rank Classifications [Newbie] - Lurkers: With the exception of UnRegistered Users, this group sees the most ads simply because they contribute the least. They can not access the Downloads or the PS3 Dev section, but they do not see any ads on the side of the Forum that UnRegistered Users do. [Registered User] - Participants: This group sees a few less ads per page than the Newbie group. They can also access the Downloads and PS3 Dev section providing they make a post weekly. [Junior Member] - Contributers: From this group onward, users no longer see In-Text ads and are reminded to post only once every two weeks. They also see fewer ads than the Newbie and Registered User groups. [Member] - Experts: These are the Pros! They see half the amount of ads previous groups do, and are only reminded to post once every three weeks. Premium Users also are included in this group, but are exempt from all ads and posting. [Senior Member] - Veterans: Ahh.. the Vets. Users in this group see the least amount of ads any non-Staff group does, and they are reminded to post only once a month. [PS3 Dev] - PS3 Devs: These are the talented folks who share their knowledge and work with the rest of us. In return, they see the low amount of ads the Senior Members do and have no posting requirement. See HERE for more details! [Moderator] - Moderators: This is our Staff group, who dedicate their time to moderating the Forums and posting news. In return, they see the absolute least amount of ads and occasionally review free samples of products. In order to advance rank you must get Rep'd by current Staff (who's Rep weighs high) or other users for the useful posts that you make.
