July 27, 2007 - Overnight you may have read that from August 1 Americans are getting a $20 price cut and five free DVDs when they buy the HD-DVD add-on for Xbox 360. However it looks like the Brits are going to miss out for the time being, with Microsoft saying it has "no announcements" about a similar UK deal.

The American reduction brings the cost of the HD-DVD drive down to $179.99 in the States - which is roughly 88 quid. In the UK the add-on currently retails for 129.99 GBP and it's going to stay that way for a while after Microsoft told us this morning: "We currently have no announcements to make at this stage regarding a price cut of the Xbox 360 HD DVD Drive for the UK."
