July 26, 2007 - Atari today announced that the Test Drive Collection Volume 5 for http://xbox360.ign.com/objects/747/747892.html is now available on Xbox Live Marketplace. For 350 points, you'll get five supercars and one motorbike: the Chrysler Crossfire SRT6 Coupe, the Dodge Charger Super Bee, the Ferrari 308 GTS Quattrovalvole, the Ferrari 512 TR, the Kawasaki Ninja ZX-12R, and the Spyker C8 Spyder. Best of all for Australian racing fans, however, and entirely free, is the bonus download of the Holden EFIJY concept car.
The EFIJY pays homage to the classic FJ Holden and is the vision of Holden Chief Designer and EFIJY project leader Richard Ferlazzo. Part state of the art machine - with a V8 Supercar engine and a Chevrolet Corvette chassis, and part throwback to the design aesthetics of an era long past, thanks to its electric tombstone-style bucket seats, maple timber veneer flooring, leather trimmed headliner and generous curves, Holden fans are going to love getting behind the virtual wheel of this one.
Richard Ferlazzo commented that the "EFIJY is the culmination of a long term vision of mine to create a car that was fun, stylish and irreverent. The EFIJY is an accolade to the talented designers who cut loose with some fantastically flamboyant styling in the post-war 1940s and 1950s. It is fitting that a car that was designed for pleasure and sheer entertainment is showcased in Test Drive Unlimited", while Mark Gilbert, Marketing Director of Atari Australia said that "The Holden EFIJY is a bold tribute to Australia's most famous car, the FJ Holden. It is a stunning collaboration of workmanship, precise detail and innovation and we are proud to have the car immortalised in Test Drive Unlimited, giving Xbox 360 owners the chance to take it out for a virtual spin".
Once you've downloaded the new cars, they can then be bought as normal from the relevant in-game dealerships. You can find a host of screenshots showing off the new cars on the media page.
