God of War 2 not reading on ps2 or hdd...

my buddies ps2 won't convert GoW2 through hdadvance3.... it says not an official blah blah blah....

GoW2 won't play it on my buddies ps2 without the hdd either... just normal loadup goes to browser, shows mc's but no disc.... says disc read error...but it will load up any other new game no problem. I haven't tried it yet.

any idea why, I told him I would post this question for him.

This was deleted for a reason. We have existing threads on GoW2 HDD here, and if it's a disc issue it belongs in the Tech support area. Common sense...
