D.J. Caruso to Direct 'Dead Space' Movie in the Works

According to http://www.variety.com/article/VR1118006507.html?categoryid=13&cs=1&nid=2564, D.J. Caruso (Eagle Eye) will be directing an upcoming 'Dead Space' film.

Apparently this won't be his first time working on a videogame project as he is also directing the Masi Oka MMO adventure film "Defender."

To quote: At this stage Caruso and EA are listening to pitches from writers and once a script has been selected the film will be shopped around to studios to see who's interested.

It'll be interesting to see what type of script is chosen or what direction Caruso and EA want to take with the project.

The Dead Space game was a bit light on direct story elements, aside from reading files and things of that sort, so perhaps the film version would flesh things out if it would be a retelling of the game.

Or we could end up with a side story or prequel, similar to the upcoming "Dead Space: Extraction" for the Nintendo Wii.
