Word out of Electronic Arts today is that its EA Mobile studio in Chertsey, UK is hard at work on a mobile iteration of the http://www.1up.com/do/gameOverview?cId=2006268 racing franchise. Expected to be available from "all major operators" in August (at least in the United Kingdom), Burnout will include many of the familiar features from the console/handheld releases, including takedowns, boost, unlockable cars and tracks, and of course, the high-speed antics the series has built its foundation upon.

"With Burnout in your pocket, you can tap into the adrenaline fueled excitement of fast and reckless driving at the push of a button no matter where you are," said Javier Ferreira, VP European Publishing at EA Mobile. "The game is incredibly easy to get into and enjoy, whether you're a racer at heart or prefer to stick to the Highway Code."

No screens or hard details are available at this time, but the press release promises "new game modes exclusive to the mobile platform." We'll be sure to update when more comes along.
