XBMC Dev Confirms Team is Working on an XBox 360 Port

244w ago - Today French site Logic-Sunrise (linked above) is reporting news that XBMC developer Spiff has confirmed the team is working on an XBox 360 port based on the recently recently announced Free60 Exploit.

To quote, roughly translated: XBMC is the center of media excellence by allowing you to manage your movies, photos, music from your PC (Windows, Linux) or your Mac.

With its smooth and friendly interface, discover the many features one of the most successful to date... and it's free. The basis for XBox, it was released on 30 September 2006. XBMC is free software, developed on a voluntary basis by Team XBMC.

From the chat log:

Artik: Hi Spiff: any news about XBMC on Xbox 360 ?
Spiff: Actually, a private team contacted us to port XBMC on the Xbox 360, using the free360 hack, but I can't tell more about the actors.
Artik: Ok, many thx Spiff, tell me when you got more news

I'm in the process of notifying logic-sunrise, but in the meantime could you pull the article or issue an update?

logic-sunrise has posted a clarification (though it's still a bit fuzzy), please update the contents of this article to reflect the fact that we have nothing to do with the Xbox360.

Ya, sadly it's what is currently being reported... hopefully if someone can get Logic-Sunrise to update it then we can have someone translate that from French into English to post an update here as well.

This news is very much incorrect, and is misquoted from an out-of-context conversation. The XBMC team has nothing to do with development on the Xbox360. If any development is taking place to run XBMC on that platform, it is from a COMPLETELY different group of devs unrelated to the team.

I realize this is an innocent mistake, however this false information is bound to spread very quickly. I would appreciate a retraction or follow-up article explaining the mistake. You're welcome to contact me via the email address on the xbmc.org contact page.
