Terrafugia Announces 'Transition' Flying Car First Test Flight

301w ago - Imagine seeing one of these at the pumps, eh? This morning, March 18th, 2009 at 9:30am a Press Conference was held at the Boston Museum of Science.

Terrafugia, the company behind the 2-seat transforming plane/car dubbed the Transition announced news of the first successful test flight.

It transforms in under 30 seconds, flies at over 115mph, and fits in a residential garage. A video of it in action is available [Register or Login to view links].

This is the first news I have seen on [Register or Login to view links] style flying cars since the [Register or Login to view links] was announced.

For those interested, you can become a Sport Pilot in as little as 20 hours of flight time in a Transition-specific course. For existing pilots, get comfortable quickly with the familiarization training included with every Transition delivery.

The price? Anticipated purchase price: $194,000.

The only questions remaining on this transformer is: is it an Autobot or a Decepticon? :P

Certainly not... if it was 'senseless news' it wouldn't be all over the mass media (Yahoo, Reuters, etc) so -Rep to you

It's damn cool news to anyone interested in seeing proof-of-concept technology in action!
