Rumor: New XBox 360 Dashboard 2.0.9195.0 Coming Soon?

Category: Console News  By: PS3 News - (gamingbolt.com)
Tags: rumor new xbox 360 dashboard 2.0.9195.0 coming soon

166w ago - Update: According to JoyStiq, the XBox 360 may also gain USB storage support in the upcoming 2010 update!

Today GamingBolt.com (linked above) is reporting that they have received an image of a new XBox 360 dashboard update on the way, namely version 2.0.9195.0.

Aside from the picture below there is no other evidence to support this claim, but many users feel it indeed looks legitimate so only time will tell for sure.

To quote: "Gamingbolt has been tipped off that a new XBox 360 dashboard update is coming soon, as we have a photo to prove it.

An image was sent in which appears to show a new XBox 360 dashboard.

The update appears to have been accidentally added by Microsoft after a console repair. Judging by the screenshot we can guess that the next dashboard update will be 2.0.9195.0."

The hardest bit will be getting a the newer dash to even boot.

Its likely the newer dash will require a CB version higher than that of a JTAG box can use.

The way the hack works now is it uses the older dash boot process to boot into the newer dash. This could be broken by the new dash requiring a new boot process.

when being compiled from source compilers NEVER compile the same way twice, so yes patches will be relocated, and as for new boot chain, well that will be patched as well.

The way the rebooter currently works is it patches in ram and soft-reboots the system, XBR_3x and freeboot reboot with the new CB, have a look at the flash layout, you will see that they all reboot with the latest CB for your motherboard revision, in fact, with XBR_0 and XBR_1 the problem was not having the new CB in the bootchain, it has been stated a few times on some other sites.

EDIT: even if microsoft do change the way the bootchain works and require certain sections of the nand to be where they are meant to be, they can still be patched, it just might take a bit longer to find and patch those sections.

after all, XBR/freeboot just use an engine to patch the standard dash on the fly
