PS3News.com Goes Mobile with Forum Runner and Tapatalk

Sponsored Links
166w ago - As we continue implementing ideas from the 2011 Suggestions, today we have added mobile support to our Forums through both [Register or Login to view links] and [Register or Login to view links] applications.

Forum Runner is an Android / iPhone / iPod Touch / iPad App that allows you to browse this forum using a native client.

This means faster access for those users since it only downloads the actual forum information rather than all the extraneous images that slow down the mobile connection.

Forum Runner is free for Forum viewing and $1.99 for the full featured app that allows posting among the extras.

Downloads: [Register or Login to view links] / [Register or Login to view links] / [Register or Login to view links] / [Register or Login to view links]

Tapatalk is a mobile forum app for iPhone, Android and BlackBerry that supports all the usual forum functions plus full screen image viewing, image upload, caching (less reload), private messaging, all these features are accessible in just a few simple taps.

Downloads: [Register or Login to view links] / [Register or Login to view links] / [Register or Login to view links] / [Register or Login to view links]

If anyone wishes to give either a try, free free to reply to this thread from your preferred device and we will +Rep ya.. enjoy!

PS: The pics below are from Forum Runner which seems to work fine, if anyone has issues with Tapatalk post them below and we will investigate as time permits.

You aren't alone hehe, I don't have one either so CJPC gave it a test run and took the pics for us!

As for getting Site News update alerts, the easiest way I can think of is to get an RSS reader of some type and add our feed to it: [Register or Login to view links]

If anyone who is more familiar with mobile devices (I don't even own a cell phone myself) has other ideas feel free to post them below!
Thanks for link for RSS feed, looked for this a while back but didn't find it.

Unfortunately we have no plans for a dedicated news forum as we want the news articles to be posted directly to their relevant sections to encourage people to use those while keeping related topics all in one place. Posting the news in a segregated area defeats this goal pretty much, and it would end up being the only section people post in leaving the others dormant.

This is the one things that differentiates our Forum from others... vBulletin is only setup to allow news to be posted to a single dedicated section, but on PS3News.com CFW news also resides in the CFW Forum itself versus in a "news threads" section. The only recommendation I can offer for those seeking to read just the news articles and nothing else would be to browse them via the main page.

PS: I don't blame ya for not trying Tapatalk though... they really should have a free version like Forum Runner does, cheapskate or not!

Just trying out forum runner - looks ok, one comment though (which i think you already mentioned)... The main site news isn't covered in a single forum, so you can't go to xzy to see all the news from the front page

Still - nice to be able to get into "Member News" and the main PS3/PSP forums.
Is there anyway you could add a kinda mirrored forum to list all "NEWS" items in (without creating double posts!) ?

Anyway - nice to see mobile access (Up till now i've been using firefox on my android phone anyway, but it's much easier to read in Forum Runner. (If tapatalk had a free version, id try that too - i'm a cheapskate!)
