217w ago - Price drop or no price drop, the PlayStation 3 has been slaughtering other consoles on its home turf. In fact, it's doing so well that it has actually managed to outsell the Nintendo Wii for 2009.
The current year-to-date figures put the PlayStation 3 at 447,700 units sold, while the Nintendo Wii is at 431,833 units sold.
The constant wave of heavy hitter games, as well as the release of Advent Children on Blu-ray, have given the console a hefty boost in weekly sales. You can view the performance of each console down below for the week of 04/13~04/19.
• PlayStation 3 - 62,527
• PSP - 40,065
• Nintendo DSi - 38,287
• Nintendo Wii - 13,221
• Xbox 360 - 8,652
• Nintendo DS - 6,438
• PlayStation 2 - 4,230
Well actually the US market is very important to the world market. We fall, the rest fall. A great example is what we see happening today. But that is a different story.
And actually the PS3 is number 1 on the Japanese market currently, this is because the 360 has sold to pretty much everyone and the Wii has sold to everyone at least 3 times. The PS3 has not really sold at all, now people are seeing that they have pretty much made a bad choice and fell into a fad and are going out and getting a PS3. Which can continue to make a profit despite it being in everyone's homes. This is because Sony made it a computer and allows you to upgrade it and change it so that you can have more HardDrive space and it also offers a hell of a lot of CPU and GPU....I digress....yeah we do tend to forget that there are other markets..but it is because we all pretty much live in the US.
Well aren't the NPD numbers for the US only as well??
As for FF13, yes the announcement was made, but I'm still having a hard time to believe if it's actually possible to port it to the 360. (demo disc, 1 hour gameplay 5GB+, and nearly 100% PS3 resource utilization in the final build).
But we'll see. RPG's aren't selling on the 360 though...
