189w ago - Today Electronic Theatre (linked above) has confirmed that the PC version of Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 has been delayed, and will launch on November 24 which is two weeks after its console counterparts.
There is no official reason for the delay yet, although it is speculated that it is due to insufficient manufacturing output to have enough PC copies ready by November 10 to meet demand or that Infinity Ward wants to implement more stringent copy-protection to combat piracy.
In related news, Activision UK managing director
Andrew Brown has defended the publisher's decision to price Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 at £55 RRP.
When Activision originally revealed the price, retailers warned of the effect that the increase would have on consumers, which is £5 more than other Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3 titles on the market.
But Brown is confident that consumers will feel that they are getting a good deal with the content provided by Modern Warfare 2.
To quote from
MCVUK: "At the end of the day, there is a spectrum of what people can afford and what people are prepared to spend. These things are key," said Brown.
"This is an industry where things cost a lot to develop and it's a risky business. We talk about building franchises; it is very expensive to do this from every respect. What we are finding is that for the right products, if you look at the time someone will spend playing something and compare it to something else, people are saying it's worth it." he added.
It seems like its due to piracy, they are trying to force the console versions to sell first and wait for the pc counterparts. Also some other news sources claim they are adding aditional security. But who knows really seems like a very stupid move to me. Anyway Im going to buy the game for ps3 on nov. 10.
