Stick around for another chart update tomorrow...
: The first day sales of the latest game releases in Japan have now been revealed and Mario Party DS has already started to cause a stir over there, far more than the GBA edition did. On its launch day of last Thursday, the Hudson Soft-developed party game passing 90,000 sales. This works out at just under 20% of the whole shipped stick, with Nintendo heaping 500,000 units onto the market for the first week. Now, whilst this number may seem small, if you take into consideration the fact that Mario Party Advance only sold 73,115 in its entire first week, going on to sell 241,721 in total, suddenly it becomes clear just how well the DS edition is doing.
In addition to this, Akumajou Dracula X Chronicles on PSP sold roughly 8,000 on its first day, out of a 20,000 shipment and Square Enix's highly addictive puzzle title Yosumin DS has only sold 2,000 copies (a 10% sell through rate, with a 20,000 shipment).
Some additional information about the previous week's sales have emerged as well, with Final Fantasy Tactics A2 on DS selling through nearly 75% of its initial stock after just two weeks of release, whilst Winning Eleven DS, Ghost Squad, plsu Zack and Wiki all sold around 50% of their stock since launch.
Finally, Super Mario Galaxy worked its way through 22% of its stock on its first day, rising to 45% by the sales week end, working out to be about 570,000 units shipped, despite the earlier 700,000 retailer pre-orders. In comparison, Ace Combat 6 on Xbox 360 sold through 75% of its 97,000 shipment, meaning it is likely to fall heavily in the update tomorrow.
