171w ago - A PSP Phone has been
rumored for quite some time now to compete with Apple, and now the
Wall Street Journal is reporting that a portable PlayStation device which shares characteristics of netbooks, electronic-book readers and handheld-game machines is indeed coming from Sony.
The device is designed to compete against multifunction products such as Apple's iPad tablet and the smartphone from Sony will allegedly be able to access downloadable games, movies and music, just like the iPhone.
As expected, Sony has
labeled the news as 'speculation' only, and noted that it is not their policy to discuss potential products prior to an official announcement.
To quote: "As already announced, Sony (including SCE) and Sony Ericsson have been strengthening their collaboration in the networked mobile space.
However, it is not our strategy to discuss future products or business plan before we make a formal announcement. Any media report that suggests details of the product or business is based on speculation."
On the other hand, they said the same thing about the PS3 Slim.
We love games I agree but if you are on the road you bring your psp or DS but dont tell me you plan to be productive carrying a psp everywhere you go. Work time has to be used to work not to play and playing is left for home, weekends and vacation. Sure you may be a kid and you dont need a phone to be productive but we really need to get things straight. Sony make a psp2 with new graphics and release a nice phone with psp minis and thats it.
I absolutely love my 3GS. Once you have an iphone, it's hard to convince that person to switch phones.
i totally agree! they keep redesign the same thing and rip off money from consumers, i think it's time for a new technology (psp2) and if there is a psp phone, they should make it with this new technology.
