With the announcement of some stellar titles arriving on the PSP this year, it would appear that owners of the device finally have a good reason to charge it up again and book a long train journey.

With the idea of creating a cutesy LBP level during rush hour headaches-ville and ripping through Motorstorm’s snowy, mountainous terrain while sitting on the toilet firmly processed in our brains, it seems only fitting that we discuss which games should also be brought to the device.

1. Dead Space

Having just been revealed as an upcoming release for the Nintendo Wii, Dead Space is clearly a franchise that EA are taking very seriously. Its blend of horror and action was well received when it was originally released for the PC, PS3 and Xbox 360 in 2008. The sound was also remarkably well implemented, helping it to be one of the most talked about games of the year.

Its eerie music, snarling monsters lurking around every corner and random spaceship noise had me on the edge of my seat. It would be very interesting to see how the game’s intensity could be scaled down for the handheld, while it would represent a superb opportunity to push the PSP’s sound capabilities to the limit.

2. Bioshock

As far as I’m aware, FPS games on the PSP haven’t exactly set the world on fire yet. Bioshock, being one of the most forward thinking games in its genre…well, ever, seems a fitting way to really put the PSP’s FPS credentials firmly on the map. It would be a grand achievement if 2K Games could develop a PSP version that is even fit to tie its father’s shoelaces, but it seems a challenge worth undertaking to really give the portable’s naysayers something to think about.

3. Uncharted

Motorstorm: Arctic Edge on the PSP will be introducing a brand new environment to its series, while Motorstorm: Pacific Rift did the same but on the PS3. Lost Planet 2 is majorly pushing the fact that the snow will be melting to conveniently bring something in contrast to its prequel. Uncharted 2 is set to… you get the idea.

Basically, a PSP version could help to bring the game’s story into another dimension. Take it to the caves of Cornwall in the South-West of England, send Nathan along the Great Wall of China or have the man swinging from a tree in the Amazon. It doesn’t really matter, it’s not my job to think these things up, Naughty Dog.

I don’t care how much of a job you’ll be facing to bring this game to a suitable graphical level, I just want to sit on the bus to work and travel the world at the same time (with a sexy sidekick). You know it makes sense.

4. Warhawk

One of the most thrilling Playstation 3 exclusives around, Warhawk is still going strong. Taking to the skies in a lightning quick…erm… Warhawk is one of my favourite past times in gaming history. Why not bring that feeling into the palm of my hands? (don’t say anything. Just don’t.)

While playing online would be fantastic, the game would also really suit having it’s own campaign, much like the Star Wars Battlefront: Renegade Squadron. I don’t feel the handheld has been pushed to the limit just yet and, again, this would certainly turn heads if developed well.

5. Killzone

Yes, there has already been a fantastic Killzone game on the PSP already, but Guerilla’s series popularity has surged to epic proportions since then. With Killzone 2 now on sale, fans of the ISA/Helghast universe will soon be chomping at the bit to be given the chance to explore the game and story a whole lot more.

New characters introduced in Killzone 2 could be included in this game, as could the Helghast home planet, Helghan. The same wide camera, third-person view as Liberation could be utilised again, while, just like going from Killzone 1 to 2, the graphical opportunities may be less limited.

Pic below is of Dead Space, and pics for each game can be seen at the link at the top of this story.

Those games would be awesome. I think if they brought the Resident Evil Series, Prince of Persia (Like the PS3 version, but the actual ability to die LOL), Valkyria Chronicles, and Street Fighter II HD Remix, I would be sold on the portable...As it stands now, I feel like it's still hurtin' for some AAA franchises...

I don't think the games will be converted good. PSP's hardware is not enough for their picture quality.
