123w ago - For those who didn't make it to this year's Consumer Electronics Show in Las Vegas, Sony's Social Media Manager
Jeff Rubenstein has shared a PlayStation 3 video today which includes a 3D Q&A session.
To quote: 3D is undoubtedly the biggest buzzword at this year's Consumer Electronics Show. We know it's coming to the PS3, but how exactly is that going to work for current PS3 owners?
I asked that question of SCEA Director of Hardware Marketing
John Koller, and the answers are in the video below.
We'll have more from CES here on Monday. In the meantime, you can find more Sony CES news

For the most part even then i don't see it as a necessity in any way and don't know how well it will hold up in the long run, especially given the need to buy new hardware. it was hard enough for the industry to get people to buy hd tvs until they came down in price, hopefully companies can hold out long enough for people to get on board if they expect it to be viable in the future. oh well will have to see how things turn out i guess, although me personally i don't see a reason for all the recent interest in the technology given its limitations.
Yes every manufacturer cooks their own soup and waits to see if the public buys into it. Most of the time early adopters are more like early screwed because they end up holding the bag for the rest of us. If you give into this "new" technology now you will buy overvaluated hardware plus you may be outdated by the time it is really useful and a standard.
We have to wait for the technology to come down in price and to have a common standard right now its just buzz. Even though this technology is pretty old the 3d effect it seems like its becoming worth while with the new tvs, computer generated graphics. Games sure would benefit a lot from this technology and shows can poke your eyes to hide their crappy scripts
My $0.02 is that this is just a ploy by Sony to cover up the fact they got nothing else "fun" to show at CES. The news has been out for a while and who exactly is saying it is a buzz word? It is Sony!
They are doing an all out marketing blitz in an effort to make this happen despite all the failures to do so before. 3D is a fad that will fall by the wayside as soon as a new tech worth getting hyped over is brought to the public eye.
The weird thing is that this technology is pretty old (60's) but it's only gaining high popularity now. It always flopped before for some reason.
