The PlayTV use the DiBcom 7070P chipset and an USB interface but Windows don't recognize it, but you can force some Pinnacle Driver to work, you need only to modify the PCTVDIB.INF inside the Archive.

Download: Sony PlayTV (Win32) Driver

The best is to use the driver linked here (Pinnacle 32bit).

• And overwrite the original PCTVDIB.INF inside the Archive.
• Plug the PlayTV and load the Driver.
• Work in Windows Media Center, and in other generic software.

If your in the US you havent seen it yet because your TV network isnt DVB-T, so the PlayTV wont work, Sony will eventually release an updated version for the US, but right now its only in Europe.

It had been reported that Australia will receive the Play TV accessory 2 months after Europe. However, more recent sources suggest it will be 2009.

Nah their not out in Australia yet, but you can get one from the UK, go to the Whirlpool.net.au forums and theirs a massive thread on PlayTV and a list of places to get them from.

I tried installing the drivers tonight, and I'm able to stream DVB content through PlayTV using VLC ... but whenever I try setting up TV in media center it crashes and reports "Media Center stopped working".

Any one got any ideas on what the problem could be? Or an alternative to media center that might work ... something more usable than VLC?

Cheers,
Cam

I've modded the Beta 64-bit drivers to work with the PlayTV too. I've only tested it on Windows 7 x64 but it should work fine under Vista x64 too.

Windows Media Center detects both tuners and works perfectly under Windows 7 x64 build 7000.

Same procedure as Gringo.

Download: "http://www.ps3news.com/forums/attachment.php?attachmentid=17052"

Download the Driver: http://cdn.pinnaclesys.com/SupportFiles/PCTV%20Drivers/PCTV%202000e,%202001e,%20280e/64_bit.zip (Pinnacle 64bit). [file is also attached below]

- Overwrite the original PCTVDIB64.INF inside the Archive.
- Plug the PlayTV and load the Driver.

It means when you extract the files from both archives to your desktop, copy and paste the new single .inf file over the old and click 'Yes' to the prompt to overwrite them.
