If your in the US you havent seen it yet because your TV network isnt DVB-T, so the PlayTV wont work, Sony will eventually release an updated version for the US, but right now its only in Europe.
im in europe and cant find it in any stores, strange, i love the fact it integrates into media centre, any word of a mac driver?
Great stuff. Thanks on this Gringo!
wish they put out play tv for usa. can't wait..
thanks for this, i'll give it a try :D
damn anyone know the release date for the US? why is the US so behind in everything in the gaming world.
It should be readily available, do a search online, I know its coming out mid next month for us in Australia.
Will try it tomorrow. My PlayTV arrived 2day. Thx a lot 4 pointing this out.
Now the PS3 Eye and PlayTV are working on XP.

Does this involve like an on-demand service like comcast/other cable companies offer already?

yay, now im defo going to get it, i was debating whether or not to get it, but i love doing things to devices that they wern't made for doing.
I'll give it a try at a friend's place with his playtv. I'll probably gonna get one myself after :D Thanks gringo!
Does this support both of the tuners in the PlayTV hardware?
this is awesome... great release!!
Nah their not out in Australia yet, but you can get one from the UK, go to the Whirlpool.net.au forums and theirs a massive thread on PlayTV and a list of places to get them from.
Yes, it does support them both. ;)
I tried installing the drivers tonight, and I'm able to stream DVB content through PlayTV using VLC ... but whenever I try setting up TV in media center it crashes and reports "Media Center stopped working".
Any one got any ideas on what the problem could be? Or an alternative to media center that might work ... something more usable than VLC?
Cheers,
Cam

I've modded the Beta 64-bit drivers to work with the PlayTV too. I've only tested it on Windows 7 x64 but it should work fine under Vista x64 too.
Windows Media Center detects both tuners and works perfectly under Windows 7 x64 build 7000.
Same procedure as Gringo.
Download: "http://www.ps3news.com/forums/attachment.php?attachmentid=17052"
Download the Driver: http://cdn.pinnaclesys.com/SupportFiles/PCTV%20Drivers/PCTV%202000e,%202001e,%20280e/64_bit.zip (Pinnacle 64bit). [file is also attached below]
- Overwrite the original PCTVDIB64.INF inside the Archive.
- Plug the PlayTV and load the Driver.

Very nice roberthunt87 and THANKS for sharing it with us. I will mention it in a Site News update tonight, and have also moved you to the PS3 Dev group for your contribution. :tup3:
i have down loaded the driver, it says overwrite archive.. how do i do this?
It means when you extract the files from both archives to your desktop, copy and paste the new single .inf file over the old and click 'Yes' to the prompt to overwrite them.
i've dl the play tv demo on my european account what else do i need? do i need a computer or is playTV something that i can use on PS3 by it's self?
i've installed this and media center isn't picking the playtv up as a device, im using windows xp media center edition, if anyone can recommend another program i would be more than happy to use that.
I personally use "PS3 Media Server".
