Again I think your just getting US figures. LBP is a massive hit other here and Europe and I believe so in Japan.
I know I'm getting it for xmas. Heck, my son couldn't wait and rented it Saturday, so we got a head start - it's very cool. It's the kind of thing that'll spread by word-of-mouth (or look-at-screen, at least); it's the kind of thing that, once you see it, you like it. :)
I doubt those numbers are world wide sales.
In europe the PS3 is selling extremely well, if not better then the Xbox360. The Wii still outsells them both though

I believe that, Black Friday being included in last month helped the other consoles sales boost. You are correct in saying that the PlayStation did well but, if there are any comparisons between its sales and the sales of the Xbox 360 and the Wii, it may be because deals on cheaper consoles seemed like more of a grab than a $400 system.
As tech starts picking up in the development part of the gaming community, so will the PlayStation 3 sales. I really would love to be able to switch my console on and play with my friends but, sadly they all have a 360, not a PlayStation 3...
As I speak! I just switched my TV on to the Discovery channel and low and behold, a PlayStation Network commercial! It didn't have a picture of the PlayStation and/or the PSP though. We all know that the PlayStation network is connected to the PlayStation 3 system.
The Xbox 360 commercials I see display the current system with Lego Indiana Jones and Kung Fu Panda then saying that the system includes over 200 family games and, finally displaying the $199 price tag.
