Rumor: Leaked Document Reveals PS3 Slim and PS3 Price Drop

Today French site PS3Gen (linked above) have posted what reportedly is a leaked document which appears to confirm both a PS3 Slim model and PS3 price drop this September.

The document is available below and to quote, roughly translated:

"Now Slim or PS3 price drop? Both, Sir!

Several contacts "unofficial" we have confirmed that the two first arrived in September. Slim version is already present in the database under the name "PlayStation 3 SLIM and is posted to 299 €.

No real news for the current version but it seems impossible that his price is not revised downwards otherwise, it would sell more. The Slim is even informally already pre-booked in some shops!

It should be noted that other "offers" PS3 is scheduled for the end of the year after the planning, but it would be, according to our sources, bundles and other offers promotions that are specifically made by this retailer.

This announces Gamescom much spice, and a very nice beginning!"

It figures that there would be a price drop when i just bought my PS3 for 400 Euros. I've been waiting for it for 2 years, finally got sick of it and acquired my own PS3.

Well, at least i'm enjoying my purchase :)

I wonder if Sony actually benefit from denying rumors of a PS3 slim etc. Price drops I can understand denying but the rumour of the slim? Anyhow it would need to be a fair bit cheaper than the fat PS3 to be worth given the rumored feature cuts.

^^ to answer that with a question with a question. would you buy the price dropped ps3 knowing full well that a newer, slimmer, more costly effective, doesn't overheat, all the bugs worked out ps3 just a few months away?

I work in a retail store and this news was actually related to us by our manager.

We are getting a bulk pack of Slims and the price drops should increase sales (apparently). :tup:

Sounds pretty cool, but i dont see the point in getting a PS3 Slim if you already have a standard one.. waste of money if you ask me.
