wow, the design is so simple. IF this is real, and almost everything is pointing that it is,....well its may too simple (unless thats what they wanted to go for). Are there any advantages and/or disadvantages from the Normal PS3 to the Slim PS3?

the only thing we know is that there is something called "PS3 SLIM" and we see images and videos that cant really show it in a whole convincing way, just like aliens.

i hope that this is real and the fact that sony tried to block it or hide it says so.
and the guy is selling it!

why dont someone give him 50 bucks to get him to spill the guts of the playstation codes.

i think that the picture is fake but the new ps3 slim is true, because that ps3 look like sony didn't desing it.

ps: that ps3 looks awful, is horrible.

first we had leaked photos of the chassis and the box design now a video of it on the black market. Sony flipped out and took down the whole page that was hosting the video. its real trust me.

the interesting thing is.... this slim may be a dev unit. which meas it was either stolen from or sold by a developer.

Someone here can perhaps check the pic to see if it was altered (exif data?)... below is the original (1600x1200) and another smaller (possibly modified) one of it.

ill take a look, but one thing i do not is when i clean up the original... it most definitely says PS3 on it not just PS

it could very well be a case mod.

there is NO WAY that the PS3 origional guts would fit in that case.... not at all. if you have ever looked in a ps3... tis pretty full. the psu alone is about 4.5-6 inches tall and about the size of a fruit cake.

Looks promising. Perhaps this system will have an exploitable hole. Anyways, hope Sony releases it for cheaper than the current PS3's. This may be their saving grace.

Hm... This is a difficult call.... Note how it says PS3 instead of PlayStation 3. That is pretty much overwritten by the fact that it has the PS Logo on it. Also note that is has a outward power supply because you can see the 2 tong AC port on the back. So add to the first post in the spec of the new console. I am 100% sure I am right about it having a outward power supply.

Because the power supply is moved out, and the cell recently was made EVEN SMALLER. As well as having no room for memory card readers. I believe this is a legitimate slim and not some elaborate hoax.

PS3 price drop? I believe so since he is selling it for $410, which if someone from Sony leaked it to him, they probably sold it at cost. So I estimate that the PS3 slim will retail for about $299, �199.

Based on all the events that have taken place this year. Sony has a snitch inside their company, and I wouldn't be surprised if they fire a few thousand people to try and find them.

I'm finding hard to believe that this is the 'real' PS3 Slim, I mean, it could be some sort of stolen prototype or a really bad joke ha ha ha. I came out with such conclusions because:

1. The 'amigo' that's selling the console doesn't seem to be quite good internal source :wacky: .

2. In latin-america, piracy always try to take advantage of good people, by selling them all kind of useless-not-real stuff :shhh:.

3. Just take a look at the poor, poor design ... I mean, if sony really wants to sell this obviously cheap 'thing', well, I just woulnd't do :p.

this is not the first time pictures of the ps3 slim have surfaced.. and its packaging. no one is going to put that much effort into a fake, knock offs are knock offs and are easily spotted. this looks to be legit. and if history repeats its self which it does. sony always makes there consoles cheaper and smaller a few years after launch.

you should check out things like "Hi-phone" then you know what a knock off can be like. not many people would put much effort into a fake in the US maybe, but in Asia, that's the hot thing to do.

That's what I meant, with this people you never know. The issue here, at least for me, is that the guy and the place are not good sources; a blurry picture of a PS3 Slim being assembled at Sony headquarters would have much more credibility than this video, again, for me :D.

But I guess that it all comes down to one thing: Wait and see!

That country is always full of fake crap. Also the PS3 is not called the PS3 the whole brand and advertising is built around "Playstation 3". Matt finish will not be on the slim either.

Plus also, Since when has Sony ever called their system PS3? i know the Playstation 2 had "PS2" on its Case but it also had on the bottom of it Playstation 2.

So why would sony start naming their system just PS3?

Like other people have said, people go to lengths to make their rip-off product look legit, just check out the fake iphones theres hundreds of them and some look almost exactly like the real thing. :shhh:

If these people want to prove this stuff and not keep starting silly internet rumors, lets have a video of a real ps3 disc being inserted into this thing and seeing someone play a game.

lol i lot of piracy electronics is going on in the Philippines and even if you bought that ps3 slim in the Philippines, you ll get piss off coz it usually defective :crazy: :shame:... but sony will eventually release ps3 slim in the near future..

for 2 major players, intel and amd both have manufacturing plants in the Philippines i also know that there iss some form of a sony entertainment branch in this area too.

I really believe that those who think this is a fake are going to be sorely mistaken. Bottom line is Sony is desperately trying to cut costs in manufacturing the PS3 and the redesign makes sense. Look at the original PS2 compared to the slim PS2, external power supply, motorized disc tray removed.

As much as some of you don't want new PS3 to look like that, bottom line is no one bought a PS3 based on what it looks like. It will still play PS3 games, include a 120GB hard drive and have 2 usb ports along with the same A/V ports in the back as the original PS3. I do think that the price cut won't be much, probably only $50. Even at $50 off Sony is going to loose a lot of money.

Well, since they didn't release it yet, and sony still didn't even admit really having a project for a cheaper and smaller version of the ps3, this console could be some kind of test prototype or something like that... It would explain it's ugliness... Pehaps they will still improve the videogame design before the final retail version.

There's been a couple of posts now and it has been addressed. I feel I should post a pic. The PS3 slim only has a PS3 embedded on the top of it. As does the PS2 slim.

The PS3 Slim only has the PS3, when the Official name is Playstation 3. So it still doesnt convince me

would they really make a knock-off, go through the trouble of "leaking" images over a rather long period of time, and then only sell a single unit on the black-market in the philippines?

they'd rather produce a few thousands and try to con as many people as possible in a short time, before it becomes widely known as knock-off...
