An executive at Electronic Arts has stated that he expects to see a PlayStation 3.5 before the PlayStation 4 console's arrival.

Additionally, he expects the next version of the Xbox 360 to go 'half way' as well at Xbox 560 versus 720.

To quote: Rich Hilleman, Chief Creative Officer at EA, said: “I expect we’ll see a PlayStation 3.5 before we see a PlayStation 4, and an Xbox 560 before we see an Xbox 720.”

Hilleman’s comments – made at a recent gaming event in the US, according to website Venturebeat – suggest that Sony and Microsoft will try to update their consoles in stages, rather than replace existing models with brand new ones.

The incorporation of motion-capture gaming is likely to drive this process. Microsoft CEO Steve Ballmer recently suggested the company's 'Project Natal' motion-capture system will debut next year in a new Xbox 360.

meh...the slim can be considered 3.5 i guess =\ but realistically, I dont see it happening, they rarely redo home consoles like portable... IE

Nintendo DS:
Fat
Slim: better design, smaller, brighter, more colors, etc
I: ^ + a camera, with some small add ons, with some removals

Sony PSP:
fat
Slim: smaller, better battery life, some hardware tweaks
3k: ^ that + mic/PS store button
go... Coming soon

but they cant really pull that with home consoles since, they require different marketing models to make perfect =P

CJPC told that he had BIG news for the weekend. What happened? I think that the news got so bigger that they thought it would be a nice idea to keep it secret a liitle bit more because of SCE would patch it..

Finally, there has been a slight delay, and more information about it will come in the middle of next week (sorry about that guys!)

As for the delay, it's simply because the shipper sent it out a day later than CJPC was initially told... meaning he won't have it until after the weekend is all.
Right now, bearing any unforseen changes, the package is scheduled to arrive this coming Wednesday.

Don't see it happening. Incremental upgrades are what killed all goodwill with Sega (Sega CD, Sega 32x, etc.)

And with the amount of cash people had to dish out for a first gen PS3, I don't see many shelling out for anything less than a full generation's leap in hardware.

I don't see how the addition of extra items can be considered a new console. Instead they should be viewed as optional enhancements. I'm a huge Xbox Fan, but I hate it when people say that Natal will "Destroy" the Playstation 3. Unplug the Natal adaptor and you've got yourself a stock standard Xbox buddy. Same story with the Playstation and whatever it is they're developing.
