The holidays are just around the corner and Sony has some online surprises waiting just around the bend.

The PSN Movie Store is already the place for over 1,000 movies and over 2,500 TV shows. This holiday season Sony is planning to bring it up a level adding several blockbuster titles.

Sony will officially be bringing these titles to the store this holiday season: (note these are just the highlights)

- The Dark Knight (12/9)
- Fred Claus (11/25)
- Hancock ( rated and unrated )(11/25)
- Horton Hears a Who (12/9)
- Indiana Jones: Kingdom of the Crystal Skull (11/26)
- Step Brothers (unrated)(12/2)
- X-Files: I Want To Believe (12/2)

Sony Senior Director of PSN, Susan Panico, also had this to add:

“The consumer demand we’ve seen for our PlayStation®Network video delivery service is phenomenal, and we expect continued momentum this holiday season with a line-up of blockbuster movies that offer something for everyone,” said Susan Panico, Senior Director of PlayStation®Network.

“Complementing this demand for high-definition downloadable content, the new 160GB PS3 bundle enables customers to download and store even more movies, TV shows, games, music and photos, making the PS3 the ultimate entertainment center and holiday gift.”

Remember that PlayStation cards are also readily available in 20 and 50 dollar increments for those without credit cards, or those in search of a cool gift card to give their gamer this holiday season. Just another great reason to pick up a PS3 this holiday season.

Wonder if they're going to make a deal with Blockbuster to do streaming movies, the way Microsoft did with Netflix? Blockbuster just came out with a set-top box, they know they need to move into streaming...

You know what, that sounds like a great idea. Although, you can watch a movie while you are downloading it from the PlayStation Store. Maybe, if the download speeds picked up, it would be just like streaming in the sense that you wouldn't need to wait to download a whole movie before actually watching it.

I'm still not comfortable with paying for movies from the PlayStation Store because of the limited playability on anything other than the PlayStation 3, or PSP (Which I don't have any more). Anyways, I have this lovely Blu Ray player and, if I'm going to watch a movie on it, I'm going to take full advantage of the Blu Ray over downloaded content.

Now I just need to find a job so that I can pay for these upcoming releases...
